Dr. Steven M. Gilson
Dr. Gilson is a graduate of The University of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine, class of 1983. He studied at Penn as an undergraduate and received a BS in Physical Chemistry and Biochemistry, graduating cum laude. He then matriculated at the school of Dental Medicine after three years of undergraduate study; in addition to his dental degree, he spent an additional year in a general practice residency.
Specialty Dental Training
During his residency, he received specialty training in the fields of Periodontics (gums), prosthetics (crowns and bridges) and endodontics (root canal). It has been his guiding principle to take this multi-disciplinary approach to his practice of general dentistry. Therefore, he can offer his patients many services and procedures that would otherwise be referred to a specialist, and provide them in his office. The understanding of the interrelationships of periodontal treatment combined with prosthetic treatment to repair and replace lost teeth is a key concept to help his patients retain healthy teeth and gums for a lifetime.
Latest Dental Technology
Dr. Steven Gilson is constantly taking continuing education to upgrade his skills and knowledge to bring our patients the latest in dental technology. Our office offers a variety of services including Invisalign (invisible braces), ZOOM bleaching, non-surgical periodontal treatment, implant restorations, all porcelain crown restorations, one visit root canal, and digital radiography. Additionally, he also offers to his patients a variety of cosmetic services for a complete smile makeover. A beautiful smile provides more than just a smile! Good teeth enhance confidence and social skills.
His philosophy is patient-centered; each patient has a unique set of needs, concerns, and dental problems. It is his approach to reach out to all his patients, give them personalized care, and to determine how best to help and resolve their dental issues.
He wants you all to have a pleasant experience during dental treatment, and a satisfying post treatment result. At Gentle Family Dentistry Plantation, FL., you’ll feel like family that is why we are Gentle Family Dentistry!
Dr. Bruce S. Weisbrot
As a dentist, I have always looked at the whole person and not just their teeth. Dental disease has been shown to cause heart and artery disease that can lead to a heart attack or stroke. To have total body health, you must have a healthy mouth. It is amazing to me how life changing it can be to a person when you can restore their form and function and give them the most beautiful smile as well. The confidence a patient gets when they are no longer embarrassed about their mouth can have a very large impact on their life.
I treat patients as though they are family. I recommend treatment in the same way. I also look at the quality of my work and say to myself, “If this was my mouth, would I be happy with this result”.
Education and Continuing Education
I was born and raised in Miami, Florida. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Florida in 1979. I graduated from Emory University School of Dentistry in 1983. I have been practicing in South Florida for the past thirty two years.
Dentistry is a constantly evolving science, and as such, requires a commitment to attend courses to keep up with all the new procedures and materials. I switched to digital x-rays long before most general dentists because I found that it greatly increases my ability to properly diagnose conditions in the mouth as well as educate the patient. I have taken many courses to be able to offer my patients Invisalign (orthodontic treatment), Root Canals, Esthetic Dentistry, Full- Mouth Reconstruction, Dentures, Implants and Botox.

Outside The Office
I married my childhood sweetheart, Elisa, in 1979 and we have been happily married for 36 years. We have two sons, Jason and Sean, ages 32 and 29. My wife and I enjoy working out together at the gym, as well as riding our bikes and going to the movies, shows and Arts Festivals. I am also a huge fan of the Miami Heat and watch every game. My oldest son, Jason lives in Atlanta and we look forward to his visits. My younger son, Sean, lives in China so we don’t see him very often but we remain very close to both via Skype, phone and WeChat.
In the Community
I have always wanted to be a dentist from a very young age. It is very satisfying to be able to help people realize their dreams. To give someone back their smile as well as their ability to chew properly is a gift I have been given. I love working with patients toward a common goal.
